#4: Why Should You Avoid the Car Wash?
Why Should You Avoid the Car Wash?
Let’s admit it… Most of us have gone through one of the many available automatic car washes at some point or another! I’ve done it, have you?
Why Do We Use Them?
First things first, they are very convenient and quick. We are in a hurry, leaving from work, want to make your car POP for a special occasion. There are so many different reasons why we go through them. Also, for the most part they are relatively cheap compared to your local professional detailer. Most of them range form 5-20 dollars verses on average your detailer would charge anything from $50 for a basic hand wash to $150 to something more sophisticated. They tend to be cheaper because of the amount of volume the car wash can do in a single day. On average they can pump out more than 100 cars in a single day. Some other reason they are cheaper is quality of materials and products. We try to use the most cost effective but balanced with environmentally friendly products we can get at the same time achieving the best effectiveness of the chemicals and other products we have.
How Are Car Washes Bad?
If you think about it the more, you touch your car the great odds of damaging something from bending license plates to scratching your paint. I have talked about the volume the automated car washes can do in a single day; they do not have time to clean the rollers after each car. So… that muddy truck that was Infront of you at the car wash, yeah… some of that debris will be stuck of the brushes when it is your turn. This will lead to swirls and scratches in your paint. When this happens, your car is more susceptible to premature clear coat failure down the road once the level of clear coat is too thin. Lastly, with all the swirl marks and scratches it defiantly dulls the appearance of your paint resulting in less of that shine everyone loves to see!
How To Fix It?
The best way to fix it is to have your car professionally paint corrected and have some sort of paint protection such as a ceramic coating or a synthetic sealant. Once your car is corrected and protected, you want to hand wash it ONLY by your trusted detailer.
Overall, if you want the best treatment, to help preserve the value and longevity of you your car’s paint then you want to contact us at Portage Paint Correction for the latest on automotive detail, paint correction, and ceramic coatings.
