#3: Self-Cleaning Properties
It has been a while since our last blog post, it has a been a busy summer and now we have time to catch up on the finer details and help strengthen the backend of Portage Paint Correction.
Today we are going to discuss ceramic coatings, more specifically, the self-cleaning properties of ceramic coatings. I was looking through our portfolio of photos to get an idea for a unique photo to post that is more than, “here is what we did today”. We try to diversify all creative aspects and try to differentiate from the competition. I came across the photo you see attached to this post and it caught my eye. I said to myself, “hmm… we always talk about the self-cleaning properties of our coating line, but it is hard to show you all what I am really talking about. In the photo you can see water beads, which everyone loves to see, but in those beads are yellow specs. Those yellow specs are pollen that is being encapsulated by the water beads. When the water beads up the surface is slick by design (from the ceramic coating), the water pulls away from the surface and along with it is the dust, dirt, and pollen making your car appear clean.
Is it clean though? In a way yes, it is cleaner than before the dirt was pulled off, but sometimes the water is dried before it is pulled away from the surface leaving a streaky appearance on the paint. Most of the time it is not a big deal or harmful, but that is the reason why we still recommend a weekly wash to get all the contaminates off the surface to prolong the coating life.
Overall, the self-cleaning properties are the best features of your ceramic coating package because your car can stay looking cleaning longer, meaning your car will stay shiny longer!
